Real Help Now Conference Introduction
TACA Executive Director, Lisa Ackerman
Lisa will cover:
Allergies and the Developing Brain
Dr. Doris Rapp is board-certified in allergy, pediatrics and environmental medicine. She has written many books and articles for both the medical profession and public. She has traveled all over the world to speak to physicians and parents. She wrote the New York Times best selling book "Is This Your Child?" She videotaped every patient for 30 years in her office. She demonstrated that different concentrations of allergy extracts of dust, mold, pollen, food and chemicals could precipitate and then eliminate illnesses in almost any part of the body. She received 140,000 letters after she was on the Donahue show and has also been on Larry King and Oprah. She has received three humanitarian awards and numerous other awards for her teaching and contributions to the field of medicine. She is interested in finding fast, easy, inexpensive, safe and effective ways to help the masses. At the present time she lectures and hopes to get funding to do research in autism.
Healing Autism
Dr. Kartzinel will discuss how to recognize and manage many of the chronic medical conditions that often accompany children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Special Education Law
Timothy Adams, Esq. and Lynne Arnold
Part 1: Your Child's Legal Rights
Part II: Empowering Parents
Advocating for your child is a complex and sometimes counter-intuitive process. Parents will learn the basic concepts of special education law and how to use this knowledge to gain control of their child’s education. Many examples will be given of how parents can respond to district road blocks and advocate effectively for their child.
1 + 1 + 1 = 300: The Effect of Multiple Environmental Toxins on the Developing Brain, Bowel, and Immune System
Dr. Schneider will discuss ways in which mercury, viruses, and/or pesticides might lead to neurological, gastrointestinal, and immune system damage in individuals who have inherited certain genetic variations that affect their ability to clear these toxins. Treatments with the potential to overcome these metabolic weaknesses will be reviewed.
Beginning Biomedical Intervention & Promoting Children's Health
Creating a healthy environment for your family starts first with you. Our environment has become more toxic and the world contains mountains of stress. This session will describe the basic elements to overall health for the entire family. Attendees will walk away with a basic understanding of what to implement in their household the very next day.
Autism and Marriage
After the autism diagnosis you spend time battling for services, learning about therapies and adjusting to your new very busy schedule but what about your marriage? Moira and Michael Giammatteo will share information they have gathered from experts, other parents and their own personal experience, about how autism can make or break a marriage. They will give some insight and some tools for couples to learn how to keep it together during this journey.
